APPLICATION & MATERIAL

Rhinestone, Pearl & Bead Selection Guide

Choose by material, size and fastening method as well as appearance.

Which rhinestones should I choose for fabric?

For iron or press applications, explore hotfix rhinestones with a heat-activated backing, including DMC glass rhinestones and hotfix porcelain-style pearls. Check fabric heat resistance and product instructions, and test temperature and time on a sample first.

Which rhinestones suit bridalwear and eveningwear?

Consider claw rhinestones for individual motifs, and close-set or spaced rhinestone chains for borders. Sewing, glue-on and hotfix applications require different methods. Choose the material and fastening together for delicate tulle and fabrics.

How do pearl rivets, drilled pearls and hotfix pearls differ?

Pearl rivets require compatible rivets and a setting machine. Drilled glass or plastic pearls can be strung or sewn. Hotfix porcelain-style pearls have a heat-activated backing. For undrilled plastic half pearls, check the glue-on method on the product page; appearance alone is not enough.

How do I choose metallic embellishments for clothing, shoes and bags?

For heat-resistant fabrics, consider Convex Metal Drop hotfix embellishments. For rivet setting, explore the metallic-coated ABS pearl rivets. A metallic appearance does not necessarily mean solid metal; check material and fastening information on each product page.

Are pointed-back stones and flatback rhinestones the same?

No. The backs of round chatons, marquise and drop-shaped pointed-back stones are designed for compatible settings or recesses. They are not applied in the same way as flatback hotfix stones. Match the setting size, stone shape and fastening method.

Which adhesive should I choose for rhinestones and beads?

Choose according to the stone backing and the material being bonded. Compare B-6000, E-7000 and liquid craft adhesives. Cold-applied liquid adhesives, hot-melt glue sticks and BSN film require different methods. No single product suits every surface; test adhesion and surface effects first.

Rhinestone mesh or self-adhesive rhinestone sheets?

Depending on the product, rhinestone mesh can be heat-bonded using its BSN backing, sewn on or attached with suitable adhesive. Self-adhesive sheets are applied by removing the backing paper. Consider the surface, stretch and required adhesion.

How do I choose a glitter cut size and application?

Glitter powder adds sparkle to textiles, crafts and decoration. Cut sizes and colours are listed on the product page. A suitable binder is required; ordinary glitter is not inherently self-adhesive or iron-on. Suitability for cosmetic, skin or food contact must be verified separately through technical documentation.
